Pushing the boundaries of construction with concrete 3D printing

In the constantly evolving world of construction, technical and aesthetic challenges demand innovative solutions. At Constructions-3D, we are committed to pushing the boundaries of traditional construction by embracing revolutionary technologies such as concrete 3D printing. Today, we delve into our recent project of designing and manufacturing poles for the Incubator Tower, highlighting the crucial importance of the MiniPrinter Pro XL in our approach.

Meeting with Johan Bauduin

A firsthand account from Johan Bauduin, a 24-year-old with a background in Civil Engineering. He embodies the ingenuity and creativity of our team. His versatile role within the company encompasses operating internal machinery, 2D and 3D design, as well as turning ideas into tangible reality. He is at the core of the process, from planning to execution.

A large-scale project: The poles of the tower

The challenge we faced was to design and manufacture poles to connect the Incubator Tower. Why choose concrete 3D printing, and specifically the MiniPrinter Pro XL? The answer lies in the need for extreme precision and increased design freedom. The MiniPrinter Pro XL not only offers faster production speeds than its counterparts but also allows for the creation of complex textures and patterns, impossible to achieve with other methods.

In addition to their aesthetic role, the poles also serve a structural purpose, with a reinforcement cage being placed inside, and traditional concrete being poured inside the poles. This is a good alternative to traditional poles poured on-site; here, it allows for a mold that can remain in place as it is aesthetic. A good way to combine utility with pleasure as this mold will not generate waste.

The process: creativity and innovation

Our methodical approach begins with locating the positions of the poles, followed by precise modeling based on the required specifications. With Constructions-3D's in-house developed Slicer, we slice the 3D model, choose the printing material, and start printing the poles. Finally, on-site, we install the poles, place the reinforcement cages, and pour the concrete.

The advantages of concrete 3D printing

Concrete 3D printing offers a multitude of advantages. Not only does it allow for increased design freedom, but it is also faster than traditional methods. Indeed, we can print a 1-meter pole in just 20 minutes. Moreover, each pole can be individually customized, offering a unique aesthetic to each structure.

The MiniPrinter PRO XL: A revolution in construction

The MiniPrinter PRO XL is our tool of choice for these ambitious projects. With its generous dimensions and ease of use, it enables us to produce complex structures with exceptional precision. Thanks to its rotating printing pallet system, it ensures maximum efficiency while ensuring the safety of its users.

Exceeding the limits of creativity

Concrete 3D printing significantly influences our design process, thus freeing our creativity from traditional constraints. However, we must remain aware of technical limitations, whether it's modeling with angle constraints on height or size. There are also constraints regarding the material, such as material viscosity and setting speed. Despite these challenges, we are convinced that the future of construction lies in innovation and the exploration of new technological frontiers.

Towards new horizons

Finally, what are our next challenges? We are considering creating the steps for the Tower staircase, thus opening up new perspectives for integrating innovative elements into our constructions. At Constructions-3D, we are determined to continue pushing the boundaries of concrete 3D printing and redefining the future of construction.

Together, let's build tomorrow, starting today.
